Major League Soccer (MLS) is entering its 28th year of operation and has seen much success since its inaugural season in 1996. A record of 29 teams will participate this year and in this article, we will have a look at the stadiums that will host this tournament.

Children’s Mercy Park is a soccer-specific stadium in Kansas City. It opened during the 2011 season of Major League Soccer and since then it is the home stadium of Sporting Kansas City. The stadium has a seating capacity of 18,467 seats.

Providence Park is a soccer venue located in Portland, Oregon. It has been in its present setup since 1893, and has been running as a stadium since 1926. Providence Park is the United States’ oldest soccer-specific stadium utilized by an MLS team. The stadium has been the home of the Portland Timbers since 1975. After the last expansion in 2019, the stadium’s capacity has been raised to 25,218 seats.

BMO Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium in the Exposition Park neighborhood of Los Angeles and next to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. It is the home of Los Angeles FC since its opening on April 18, 2018. The seating capacity of the stadium is 22,000.

Dignity Health Sports Park is a soccer-specific stadium located on the campus of California State University. Aside from being home to the Los Angeles Galaxy since 2003, it was also home to the defunct club, Chivas USA. The stadium was the temporary home of the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League from 2017 to 2019, the smallest NFL venue during those three seasons with a capacity of 27,000 seats.

Allianz Field is a soccer-specific stadium in Saint Paul, Minnesota, home to Minnesota United FC of Major League Soccer. It opened in 2019 with a seating capacity of 19,400 people.

Toyota Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium located in Frisco, a suburb of Dallas. Built and owned by the city of Frisco, the stadium has a capacity of 20,500 seats. Since its opening in 2005, its primary tenant is the Major League Soccer club FC Dallas.

The Subaru Park is a soccer-specific stadium located in Chester, Pennsylvania. The venue is home to the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer since its opening on June 27, 2010. It has a  capacity of 18,500 people.

The Red Bull Arena is a soccer-specific stadium in Harrison, New Jersey. It is home to the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer since 2010. With a seating capacity of 25,000, it is one of the biggest soccer-specific stadiums in the United States and in Major League Soccer.

The Lower.com Field is a soccer-specific stadium in Columbus, Ohio. It serves as the home stadium of the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer since 2021. It opened its gates on July 3, 2021 and has a capacity of 20,371 people.

Exploria Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium in downtown Orlando. It is the home of Orlando City SC of Major League Soccer since it opened in 2017. The capacity of the stadium is 25,500 seats.

The Saputo Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium at the Olympic Park in Montreal, Canada. The stadium opened on May 21, 2008, and is the current home of CF Montréal (formerly known as Montreal Impact). It has a capacity of 19,619  people.

The Drive Pink Stadium (formerly known as Inter Miami CF Stadium) is a soccer-specific stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Built on the site of the former Lockhart Stadium, the 18,000-seat stadium is the home pitch of Inter Miami CF of Major League Soccer since 2020.

The Audi Field is a soccer-specific stadium in Washington, D.C. It is the home stadium of D.C. United in Major League Soccer since its opening in 2018 and has a capacity of 20,000 seats.

The Shell Energy Stadium is a soccer stadium located in Houston, Texas and it serves as the home to the Houston Dynamo, a Major League Soccer club. It opened in 2012 and has a capacity of 22,039 seats.

The TQL Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio. It opened on May 16, 2021, and since then it is the home of FC Cincinnati, a Major League Soccer (MLS). It can hold 26,000 spectators which makes it as one of the biggest in the League.

The BMO Field is a soccer stadium located in Toronto, Canada. It is home to Toronto FC of Major League Soccer since 2007 and has a current capacity of 27,980 seats. It is one of two Canadian stadiums which will host matches of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. The field will be supplemented by 17,000 temporary seats to bring its capacity to over 45,000 for the event.

The Geodis Park is a 30,000-seat soccer-specific stadium located in Nashville, Tennessee. It is the home of Major League Soccer club Nashville SC. The stadium opened on May 1, 2022.

The Gillette Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts. It serves as the home stadium and administrative offices for both the New England Patriots of the National Football League and the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer. It opened in 2002, replacing the historic Foxboro Stadium. The stadium’s capacity is 66,000 seats with the Revolution artificially limiting the capacity for MLS matches to 20,000. The stadium is set to host several matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Bank of America Stadium is a 74,867-seat football stadium located in uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. It is the home facility and headquarters of the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League and Charlotte FC of Major League Soccer. The stadium opened in 1996 and since 2022 is the home to Charlotte FC. For soccer matches, the capacity is reduced to 38,000. However, the stadium holds the MLS record for standalone match attendance, with 74,479 people attending the inaugural home match of Charlotte FC.

The PayPal Park (formerly Earthquakes Stadium and Avaya Stadium) is a soccer-specific stadium in San Jose, California. It serves as the home of Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes since 2015. PayPal Park officially opened on February 27, 2015, and has a capacity of approximately 18,000.

The Q2 Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium located in the city of Austin, Texas. It was built in 2021 and it was ready for the first year of Austin FC on Major League Soccer. The stadium has a capacity of 20,738 people.

The Citypark is a soccer-specific stadium in St. Louis, Missouri. It is the home of the local soccer club St. Louis City SC. The stadium can hold 22,500 spectators and was completed ahead of the 2023 MLS season.

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in Atlanta, Georgia. Opened in August 2017 as a replacement for the Georgia Dome, it serves as the home stadium of the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League and Atlanta United FC of Major League Soccer. The capacity of the stadium is 71,000 and this is limited to 42,500 for soccer matches. Mercedes-Benz Stadium will host multiple matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Yankee Stadium is a baseball stadium located in the Bronx and was built in 2009. It is the home field of the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball, and New York City FC of Major League Soccer. The capacity of the stadium is 46,537 and for soccer games, this is limited to 28,743 seats. Since 2015, New York City FC has primarily played their home games at Yankee Stadium. Several alternative venues have been used when Yankee Stadium is unavailable.

Soldier Field is a multi-purpose stadium in Chicago, Illinois. Opened in 1924 and reconstructed in 2003, the stadium has served as the home of the Chicago Bears of the National Football League since 1971, as well as Chicago Fire FC of Major League Soccer from 1998 to 2005 and since 2020. The stadium has a capacity of 61,500 seats.  The stadium hosted 5 games in the 1994 FIFA World Cup.

The Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, also known as DSG Park, is a soccer-specific stadium located in Commerce City, Colorado. It is home to the Colorado Rapids professional soccer team since it was opened in 2007. The stadium seats up to 18,061 people for soccer matches.

The America First Field (formerly Rio Tinto Stadium) is a soccer-specific stadium in Sandy, Utah. The stadium opened on October 9, 2008, and since then it serves as the home venue for Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake. The stadium’s capacity is 20,213.

The Lumen Field (previously known as CenturyLink Field) is a multi-purpose stadium in Seattle. It is the home field for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League and the Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer. It has a seating capacity of 68,740 spectators for NFL games and 37,722 for most MLS matches. It opened on July 28, 2002, and it is the home of the Seattle Sounders FC since 2009.

The BC Place is a multi-purpose stadium in Vancouver, Canada. Opened on June 19, 1983, it serves as the home of Vancouver Whitecaps FC since 2011. The total capacity is 54,405 but for most MLS games the capacity is reduced to approximately 22,000 seats. The stadium is set to host multiple matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
