Argentina Primera National – Zone A Stadiums

The Primera Nacional (commonly referred to as Nacional B) is the second tier of the Argentine football league system.

This year, 37 teams will take part in the tournament, which will be divided into two zones. At the end of the season, both zone winners will play a match on neutral ground to determine which team will be promoted to the first division for 2024. Teams ranked 2-8 in each zone will compete against each other in a knockout tournament as well as against the losing finalist from the match between both zone winners to determine the second team that will be promoted. The teams at the bottom of each zone will be demoted, and those finishing second-last in every group will compete in a playoff to determine which team will be sent down as well.

In this article, we will have a look at the stadiums that will host the Zone A of the Primera Nacional.

Argentina Primera National – Zone A Stadiums

The José María Minella Stadium is located in the city of Mar del Plata and was opened for the 1978 FIFA World Cup hosted by the country.  The capacity of the stadium is 35,350 seats making it the largest facility in the tournament. Currently, it serves as the home ground for the clubs Alvarado and Aldosivi. Alvarado has only participated in the highest division of Argentine football once.

The Estadio La Ciudadela is a stadium located in Tucumán, Argentina. It mainly serves as the home ground for the San Martín de Tucumán football club and can accommodate up to 30,250 spectators. San Martin competed in the first division for every season between 1968 and 1985. Since then, they only managed to participate in the Argentine Primera División for another three seasons with the last being in 2009.

The Estadio Nuevo Francisco Urbano is a football stadium situated in the municipality of Morón in Buenos Aires. It was inaugurated in 2013 with a 32,000-seat capacity. It now serves as the home to Deportivo Morón who have participated only one time in the Primera Division.

The Estadio Gigante de Villa Fox is a football stadium located in the district of Zárate in Buenos Aires. It has a capacity of 6,000 and is home to the local team Defensores Unidos. Despite the fact that the team was founded in 1914 they will participate in the second division for the first time this year.

The Estadio Ingeniero Hilario Sánchez is a football stadium in San Juan. It has a capacity of 17,000 spectators and was built in 1951. It is the home ground of San Martín de San Juan. The team’s last appearance in the Primera Division was in 2019 and since then it participates in the Argentine second division.

The Ofelia Rosenzuaig Stadium is located in Carlos Casares, a city in Buenos Aires Province. It was inaugurated in 2012 and belongs to Club Agropecuario who are playing in the second division since 2017.

The Estadio Tres de Febrero is a football stadium located in Buenos Aires. It opened in 1956 and it holds 12,500 people. It is the home ground for Club Almagro. The club has spent most of its years in the second division of the Argentinian football leagues pyramid with 64 appearances. They also have 19 appearances in the first division.

The Estadio Presbítero Bartolomé Grella is a football stadium in Paraná, Argentina. It opened in 1956 with a capacity of 23,500 spectators. It is currently used as the home ground of Patronato de Paraná. Patronato was part of the Primera division since 2015 but was relegated in 2022 despite winning the Copa Argentina.

The Estadio Nueva Chicago is a football stadium based in Mataderos, a neighborhood in Buenos Aires.  The stadium holds 28,500 and opened in 1940. Since then it is the home ground for Nueva Chicago. The club has participated in official tournaments since 1913 and has achieved 12 promotions, six of them to the First Division. It is the only Argentine club to have gained consecutive promotions from the third level to the first Division on two different occasions. It also has the national record for the most seasons in the Second Division with 76 participations.

The Estadio Víctor Antonio Legrotaglie is a football stadium located in the city of Mendoza. It has an approximate capacity of 14,000 seats and was built in 1934. The stadium is home to the Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza. The club’s last appearance in the Primera Division was in 1985.

One of the oldest stadiums in Argentina is the Estadio Juan Pasquale. It was built in 1910 with a 10,000 seats capacity in the Núñez neighborhood of Buenos Aires. It is the home of Defensores de Belgrano. The club has spent 18 seasons in the first division with the last being back in 1934. Since then they have played 68 seasons in the second division.

The Estadio Carlos V is located in the Jáuregui province of Buenos Aires. It opened in 1960 with 5,000 seat capacity and it serves as the home to CSD Flandria. In 2016, the club was promoted to the Argentinian second division for the first time in its history.

The Estadio Alfredo Beranger is a football stadium located in the city of Temperley in Greater Buenos Aires. The stadium holds 12,000 people and opened in 1924. It is the home ground of Club Atlético Temperley. The club has spent 19 years in the first division being the runners-up in 1924. The last appearance was in 2018. The club has also participated in 65 seasons in the second division.

The Estadio Antonio Candini is located in the City of Río Cuarto, in the province of Córdoba. It opened in 1938 and can hold 12,000 people. It is home to Estudiantes de Río Cuarto. Estudiantes participated in three straight seasons of Argentina football’s top division between 1983 and 1985.

The Estadio Fragata Presidente Sarmiento is a football stadium located in Isidro Casanova in the greater Buenos Aires area. The stadium has a capacity of 25,000 spectators and it opened in 1969. Since then it is the home to Almirante Brown. The club has never participated in the first division of the Argentinian first division. They have only reached the second division where they have participated 40 times.

The Estadio Raúl Conti is a football stadium located in the city of Puerto Madryn. Inaugurated in 1967 the stadium has a capacity of 15,000 spectators. It is the home stadium of Guillermo Brown. The team has spent 10 years in the second division since its first appearance in 2011.

The Estadio Islas Malvinas is a football stadium in Buenos Aires. The stadium holds 12,199 spectators and opened in 1963. It is the home ground for All Boys. The club has more than 100 years of history and has participated in the Primera division 19 times. The team has participated in the second division 75 times just one ahead of Nueva Chicago who is the current record holder with 76.

The Estadio Arturo Miranda is located in the city of Santiago del Estero. It has a capacity of 12,000 and is the home of Guemes Athletic Club. The club has promoted to the second division in 2021 and this will be the third year in the tournament.

The Estadio Doctor Osvaldo Baletto is located, in the town of Dock Sud in Greater Buenos Aires since 1924. It has a capacity of 10,500 seats and is owned by the San Telmo Athletic Club. San Telmo was founded in 1904 and has played in the first Division only once in its history. The club has returned to the second division in 2021 after a 43-year absence.
